Memphis Painted Green and White

Thank you to all of the teams, fans, officials and the Mike Rose Soccer Complex and Memphis for combining to put on a great tournament! Without the teams, officials and great staff from all over the country, this tournament would not have been a success.

Women's Open Scenarios

Pool A
Missouri v. Pennsylvania
Iowa State v. Colorado School of Mines
Missouri leads the group with 6 points. If Penn wins, they will tie Missouri and if Colorado School of Mines wins will lead to a 3 way tie.

Pool B
Oregon vs. Villanova
Old Dominion v. U Miami
Miami leads the group with 6 points and is projected to win the group. Oregon and Villanova could catch Miami but both lost to Miami. Wild card considerations are on the line for Oregon and Villanova.

Pool C
Illinois v. James Madison
Salt Lake CC v. UW-Milwaukee
The winner of the Illinois-JMU game wins the group. If there is a tie, James Madison would win the group with a higher Goal Differential.

All games above start at 12pm

Pool D
Penn State v. Texas State
Colorado "Black" v. Washington University-St. Louis
Penn State leads the group with 6 points. If Texas State wins, they will tie Penn State and if Colorado "Black" wins will lead to a 3 way tie.

Pool E
UCLA v. Vanderbilt
This pool only has 3 teams. Both defeated Towson. The winner of this game wins the group. If there is a tie, UCLA would win on higher Goal Differential.

Pool F
Arizona v. UCONN
Middle Tennessee State v. Texas "B"
The winner of the Arizona v. UCONN game wins the group. If there is a tie, Arizona wins the group.

Games in Pools D, E and F start at 2pm.

Other Men's Open Scenarios

Pool D
Missouri v. Cal State Fullerton
Sam Houston State v. Villanova
Mr. Blog projects Missouri to win the group...they have 6 points, Sam Houston State has 3 points but already lost to Missouri which is the first tiebreaker, but Sam Houston State wants to win to challenge for a wild card.

Pool E
California v. Kansas
SUNY Cortland v. U Miami
California has all 4 goals in group play and as such is projected to win the group. Kansas has 2 points and cannot catch Cal.

Pool F
San Diego State v. Pennsylvania
NC State vs. Houston CC
San Diego State has 6 points and leads the group. If Penn defeats San Diego State, we'll have a 2 way tie for first and a 3 way tie for first if NC State also defeats Houston CC.

All games above start at 10am.

First out of the Gate...

Men's Open starts things off this morning...

Pool A
Colorado State v. Texas Tech
UCONN v. Samford
Texas Tech leads the group with 4 points followed closely by Colorado State and Samford with 3 points. Both games have group implications as only the 1st place team is guaranteed a spot in the knockout rounds in all open divisions.

Pool B
Baylor v. James Madison
Colorado "Black" v. Cincinnati
James Madison and Cincinnati lead the group with 4 points. Mr. Blog sees an interesting development if Baylor and Colorado "Black" win...all 4 teams would have 4 points.

Pool C
Texas "B" v. Iowa State
Arkansas v. Arkansas State
Iowa State controls the group with 6 points. However, if Texas "B" wins they win the group.

All games above start at 8am.

Good Morning...

The time is now 7:35am and it is a cool 35 degrees and beautiful out this morning! We are not performance enhanced this morning (Mr. Blog does not drink coffee).

Biggest NIRSA/NCCS Soccer Tourney Ever!

With 95 teams competing in this year's championships, it is the largest NIRSA/NCCS Soccer tournament ever! 24 teams will play in the men's and women's championships and men's open. There are 23 teams in the women's open division. This promises to be a great tournament! Who will be "walking in Memphis" as winners? One day to go!

One Day to Go!

We are getting ready for the 2012 NCCS National Soccer Championships!

In the Men's Championship, defending champion Weber State is back to defend their title. The only other semifinalist back to try and take the title away is Minnesota. Of the 16 playoff teams last year only 9 teams are back to challenge Weber State. Will this clear the way for an experienced Weber State team or will another team step up and claim a title?

In the Women's Championship, 5 time defending champions UCSB are back to defend their title. Is there anyone who can end their dynastic reign? 10 teams who qualified for the knockout stage last year are back to challenge UCSB including finalist Cal Poly and semifinalists Texas and Virginia Tech. Will the dynasty end or will UCSB win one for the other hand?

In the Men's Open, there will be a new open champion as UC-San Diego is not back. Who will win? Texas "B" is back to challenge for the crown as returning finalists. Missouri who ended up as national finalist last year may be another challenger. The field is wide open to determine our next men's open champion.

In the Women's Open, Missouri is back to defend their championship. Illinois will challenge this year as a returning semifinalist. James Madison, Salt Lake Community College, Colorado "Black" and Oregon are returning quarterfinalists. However, JMU and Salt Lake CC share a pool with Illinois and only 2 will advance. This promises to be a wonderful challenge for all teams in this division to become the Women's Open Champion.

It all starts on Thursday.
